Winners announced in WineMaker Magazine's 2005 Competition

Results from the 2005 International Amateur Wine Competition have been released and are available here. The following quote from WineMaker Magazine offers a glimpse at the overwhelming magnitude of the competition.

“The 2005 edition of the WineMaker International Amateur Wine Competition represented the largest and most diverse collection of amateur wines ever assembled. The 2,247 entries arrived from hobby winemakers living in 46 American states, 7 Canadian provinces and as far away as Israel. Over the course of three days, judging panels worked through over 400 flights, examining each wine using the UC-Davis 20-point wine scale evaluating appearance, aroma, taste, aftertaste and overall impression. The wines were entered in 50 different categories and included an astonishing array of varietals and wine styles. Kit wines competed alongside fresh-grape entries in this blind tasting. Judges awarded gold, silver, bronze and best of show medals to every wine considered worthy.”

The Vineyard submitted 15 entries and took home 9 medals -- 3 Golds, 2 Silver, and 4 Bronze. All Vineyard awards can be found here.
